Lilly Passes Measure Allowing for Social-Emotional Screenings for Children

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – With wide bipartisan support, state Representative Camille Lilly, D-Chicago, passed legislation last week that creates the option of a social-emotional screening as part of a standard school physical.

“Our educational system is supposed to prepare students for the real world the best it can, teaching them about the world and themselves,” said Lilly. “A social or emotional delay can drastically hinder the progress of a student. If we are able to help these children as soon as possible, it gives them every opportunity of living a fulfilling life.”

Lilly Visits Community Organization Dedicated to Assisting Persons with Developmental Disabilities

OAK PARK, Ill. – Earlier today, state Rep. Camille Lilly, D-Chicago, visited the UCP Seguin organization to tour the facility and highlight the work they perform with individuals with developmental disabilities every day.

“It is truly heartwarming to see the passion of this group dedicate themselves to ensuring trust and compassion for those who are in need,” said Lilly. “Organizations that do work to assist individuals with developmental disabilities have had an extremely tough year, and I want to make sure I am doing all that I can to avoid it from happening again.”

Lilly Hosts Local Event for Youths

CHICAGO – Over this past weekend, state Rep. Camille Lilly, D-Chicago, held her monthly I’m 17 event for youths on the Westside who are 17 years old to encourage them to get involved locally and highlighted their significance as the potential next generation of leaders.

“We started this get together because we wanted to offer our younger generations the chance to understand their importance to their own voices and lives, to those around them and their communities,” said Lilly. “Every day I aim to stress the significance of civic engagement to them, because their significance doesn’t start later in life. It is now and always will be.”

Lilly Participates in Franklin Park’s Annual Railroad Day Event

liley amtrackFRANKLIN PARK, Ill. – Over the weekend, state Rep. Camille Lilly, D-Chicago, attended Franklin Park’s annual Franklin Park Fest for its featured Railroad Day to speak with constituents and answer their questions.

“Local events like these really highlight the history that Illinois’ villages have,” said Lilly. “Franklin Park is Illinois’ fifth largest industrial park, and the Railroad Day reminds us of the progression through different locomotive machines that composed the former might of our country’s railroad systems.”
